Entry requirements:
Normally at least a good second class honours degree in an appropriate subject (eg Geography, Computer Studies, Geology, Earth Science, Environmental Studies or other appropriate physical/computer science degree).
Suitable equivalent qualifications would be considered for overseas/mature students, especially those with relevant professional experience

Programme specification:
The programme will:
- focus on scientific, technical and computational aspects of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Geographical Information Science (GIScience) with particular reference to the socio-economic sciences;
- offer opportunities for personal and professional development through study skills and software training, short-term placements with academics and external organisations, attendance at seminar and conference events.
- complement other Masters (PGT)/PGDip/PGCert programmes given within the School;
- provide flexibility in student learning through provision of full and part-time study modes and substitution of face-to- face modules with ODL modules where appropriate to student needs;
- incorporate flexible and student-centred electronic learning resources as appropriate;
- provide an advanced level of training in research methods in line with ESRC requirements and thus enable students to move into research for a Ph.D.;
- attract good Geography, Economics, Business Studies and other social science students;
- provide a source of highly qualified and motivated students for employers in the GIS/GIScience sector with whom such skills are in high demand.
